The frequency of appointments depends on your treatment plan. For example, therapy sessions may occur weekly, biweekly, or monthly, while medication management may require follow-up appointments every few weeks or months. Your psychiatrist will discuss the optimal schedule for your needs.

Yes, many patients continue therapy with a therapist (psychologist, counselor, etc.) while seeing a psychiatrist for medication management. Collaboration between your therapist and psychiatrist can ensure coordinated care.

If you need a prescription refill, contact our office ahead of time. We will schedule an appointment to discuss your medication needs. Please note that prescriptions for controlled substances may require an in-person visit.

Understanding Coverage

Insurance Questions

Most insurance plans, including private and employer-sponsored plans, cover psychiatric treatment, including therapy and medication management. However, coverage may vary based on your specific plan, and it’s important to confirm your benefits. You can contact your insurance provider to inquire about your mental health coverage, including:

  • Copay amounts
  • Deductibles
  • Out-of-pocket maximums
  • Covered services (therapy, medication, psychiatric evaluations, etc.)

If your insurance doesn’t cover mental health services, you may still be able to get care through self-pay options.

If you see an out-of-network provider, your insurance might cover part of the costs through reimbursement, especially if your plan allows you to see out-of-network providers (such as with PPO plans). You’ll need to pay upfront, and then you can submit a claim to your insurance provider for reimbursement. Be sure to get an itemized bill to submit with your claim.

We offer a range of mental health services including:

  • Diagnostic evaluations for mental health disorders
  • Individual psychotherapy (e.g., Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, etc.)

During your first appointment, the psychiatrist will ask you questions about your medical history, symptoms, and any previous mental health treatment. This is an opportunity for you to discuss your concerns, ask questions, and learn about potential treatment options. Depending on your needs, the session may include a diagnosis, therapy, or a plan for medication management.

A referral is not always required. However, some insurance plans may require one for coverage. It’s a good idea to check with your insurance provider or contact our office directly to confirm.

We treat a wide range of conditions, including but not limited to:
